General Ingredients Nutrition Company General What is GoodBelly? GoodBelly™ and GoodBelly Multi™ are Probiotic Fruit Drinks that promote healthy digestion and immunity. GoodBelly products provide two strains of friendly bacteria: Lactobacillus plantarum 299v (Lp299v) and Bifidobacterium lactis (B. lactis). Lp299v has been extensively researched for 15 years and has 12 clinical studies behind it. B. lactis has also been thoroughly documented. B. lactis has been added to food and safely consumed for over 20 years. GoodBelly Multi contains vital minerals, and 100% of the RDA of 9 essential vitamins. GoodBelly and GoodBelly Multi contain NO dairy, soy or wheat and are vegan. GoodBelly Probiotic Fruit Drinks are available in quarts, and GoodBelly Multi comes in an easy to grab and go 2.7 oz serving. What flavors and sizes of GoodBelly are available? GoodBelly Probiotic Fruit Drink and GoodBelly Multi were created with the same purpose in mind: to help improve your digestion and immunity. But there is a difference. GoodBelly Probiotic Fruit Drink comes in a quart size that is thriftier, and because it is not as highly fortified as GoodBelly Multi, the whole family (kids included) can enjoy the proven benefits of our unique probiotics. GoodBelly Multi has the right amount of probiotics and the right amount of vitamins and minerals-- no more guesswork. The best part is that it takes less than a minute to drink and its small size makes it perfect for grabbing as you head out the door. Does GoodBelly need to be refrigerated? Yes. GoodBelly does need to be kept refrigerated. How long will GoodBelly last in the refrigerator once it’s opened? An opened GoodBelly container can remain fresh for up to one week if kept in the refrigerator. How long will GoodBelly last if it is not opened and kept refrigerated? GoodBelly will last, if kept unopened and refrigerated, until the expiration date shown on the package. Where is the expiration information located on the package? GoodBelly Probiotic Fruit Drink quarts are stamped with a date, time and plant code along the top seam of the quart container. GoodBelly Multi 4-packs have the expiration information inked on the top panel, in the upper right corner. Oops! I left my GoodBelly out on the counter overnight, is it safe to use? If your GoodBelly is unopened, it will still be okay to use. If your product spends more than 24 hours out of refrigeration we do not recommend using it. If it was opened, we recommend discarding the product. Why is GoodBelly sold in the refrigerated dairy section if it doesn’t contain dairy? The dairy case is historically where probiotic products are found. Also, GoodBelly must be refrigerated to preserve its efficacy and nutrients. Are there known adverse reactions to GoodBelly? In 13 years of consumption of Lp299v in Sweden there have been no adverse reactions reported. Bifidobacterium lactis has also been consumed for over 20 years with no harmful effects reported. However, GoodBelly Multi does contain added vitamins and minerals. Some people may find that they have a sensitivity to certain vitamin or minerals. GoodBelly is available nationally through Whole Foods Market and Wild Oats Markets, a variety of local natural foods stores and select grocery chains. Please use the Store Locator to find a store near you. If I don’t like GoodBelly or it doesn’t like me, how do I return the product? We're very sorry to hear that you did not have a wonderful experience with GoodBelly Multi. We don’t want you to spend your hard-earned money on something that doesn’t work for you. If GoodBelly Multi doesn’t improve your digestive system in 21 days, we’ll gladly take it back and refund your money. The outer cardboard wrap of GoodBelly Multi four-packs are recyclable. The inner 2.7 ounce cup is made from #5 plastic. If your local recycler accepts #5 plastic (mostly used for yogurt cups), like they do in our hometown of Boulder, you're in luck! GoodBelly Probiotic Fruit Drink quarts are just like milk cartons, so please check to see if your community recycles these cartons. We are working on making our packages recyclable across the country in the near future. In the meantime, we are purchasing carbon offset credits to help keep our ecological foot-print small, and we'll continue to invest in our environment, because it's just part of what we do. Ingredients Is GoodBelly Gluten Free? GoodBelly is wheat free - not gluten free. GoodBelly uses oat flour as the basis for growing the probiotic. We use a small amount of barley that assists the oats in the culturing process. We have had GoodBelly tested for gluten and have found consistently that gluten is not detectable... even at the 20ppm (parts per million) level. However, we will still not make a claim that GoodBelly is gluten free, as it contains those traces of gluten from barley malt. What probiotics are used in GoodBelly? There are two clinically tested, active strains of probiotics used in GoodBelly. Lactobacillus plantarum 299v (Lp299v) and Bifidobacterium lactis (B. lactis). Where can I find the Ingredient Statement and Nutrition Fact panel? GoodBelly Multi Nutrition panel and Ingredient Statement are located on the outer wrap of the four-pack packaging. GoodBelly Probiotic Fruit Drink provides the Nutrition Facts and Ingredients on a side panel of the quart container. You can also view the Nutrition Facts and Ingredient Statements for all our products here. What vitamins and minerals do you add to GoodBelly Multi? GoodBelly Multi is a fortified drink made from organic fruits. These fruits contribute varying amounts of naturally occurring vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. In order to provide the daily nutrients you need for optimum health we’ve added the following to GoodBelly Multi: Calcium Chromium Manganese Molybdenum Selenium Zinc You can see all of the nutrients you’ll receive from a serving of GoodBelly here. Is GoodBelly a Vegan product? Yes, GoodBelly and GoodBelly Multi are both Vegan. Check our nutrition statements for a complete listing of ingredients. Are your ingredients safe? All of our ingredients are carefully researched, certified and sourced. We only use ingredients with proven safety and efficacy, and work only with the most reputable suppliers. As well, GoodBelly has just been certified organic, so you can feel good about that too! Does GoodBelly contain iron? GoodBelly does not contain significant quantities of iron, only traces that naturally occur in the fruits we use. Is Lp299v harmful in large doses? No. Lp299v has been extensively tested at varying dosages and no adverse effects have been reported. Can I use GoodBelly if I am sensitive or allergic to dairy, soy and/or wheat? Yes, GoodBelly is safe to use for those who are sensitive or allergic to dairy, soy and wheat because we DO NOT use those ingredients in our product. The probiotic Lp299v is grown on oat flour. Do you add sugar to GoodBelly? If so, what kind and why? No highly refined sugar is used in GoodBelly. We use just enough organic evaporated cane juice to give GoodBelly the right amount of sweetness. Are there artificial ingredients or preservatives in GoodBelly? We strive to use only the highest quality and most natural ingredients in GoodBelly. However, many vitamins are not available in a suitable natural form, so we have to use man-made vitamins. No preservatives are used in GoodBelly and we do not use artificial flavors or colors. Is GoodBelly organic? Yes! GoodBelly has recently received Organic Certification! We are absolutely committed to using organic ingredients, and all of the primary ingredients in GoodBelly are organic. This certification comes from Quality Assurance International a well known and reputable Organic Certifier. Do probiotics affect the taste of GoodBelly? No. Probiotics do not affect the taste of GoodBelly. Nutrition How many probiotics are in a dose of GoodBelly? There are 20 billion active probiotics in each 2.7 oz serving of GoodBelly Multi. There are 10 billion active probiotics in each 8 oz serving of GoodBelly Probiotic Fruit Drink. Can I take other probiotics with GoodBelly—like yogurt or kefir? Yes. Taking other probiotics with GoodBelly should not have any detrimental effect on the efficacy of the product. Is there a limit to how much GoodBelly I should drink per day? We do not recommend consuming more than one 2.7 oz serving of GoodBelly Multi per day. GoodBelly Multi contains 100% of the recommended daily value for 9 vitamins and 5 minerals. So consuming more than one per day might deliver too much of a good thing. GoodBelly Probiotic Fruit Drink contains less added nutrients than GoodBelly Multi, so you may drink more than one serving per day. However, some people may find ingesting large quantities of fruit juice can be irritating to their stomach. Additionally, GoodBelly Probiotic Fruit Drink does contain 100% of the DV for Vitamin C. How often should I consume GoodBelly to get the optimum effect? The studies on Lp299v have shown that the best results occur when the product is used daily. A serving a day will provide the best benefit, but don’t worry if you miss a day or two. How does GoodBelly work? GoodBelly contains clinically tested probiotics (Lp229v and B. lactis), which strengthen the digestive system as well as the immune system by restoring balanced and beneficial intestinal flora. GoodBelly’s probiotics work by acting as a barrier along the lining of the intestines, which prevents the adhesion of pathogenic bacteria. Additionally, the probiotics in GoodBelly are highly resistant to stomach acid so more bacteria are able to colonize the gut. Is GoodBelly safe for infants, children or women who are pregnant or nursing? *GoodBelly Probiotic Fruit Drink and GoodBelly Multi* are NOT formulated for infants.** The daily values for vitamins and minerals in GoodBelly are formulated for adults. It is possible an infant could overdose on certain vitamins and minerals. Please consult with your pediatrician before giving your toddler-age or older child GoodBelly. GoodBelly Probiotic Fruit Drink is safe (and beneficial) for nursing women to use with approval from your doctor. If you are pregnant and already taking a pre-natal vitamin, please check with your practitioner regarding the vitamins and minerals in GoodBelly. Is it okay to consume GoodBelly in addition to a daily multi-vitamin? GoodBelly Multi already contains 100% of the recommended daily value for 9 vitamins and 5 minerals. So taking additional vitamins might deliver too much of a good thing. We recommend not consuming both GoodBelly Multi and a multi-vitamin together. GoodBelly Probiotic Fruit Drink contains 100% of the DV for Vitamin C, but lesser quantities of other nutrients. We recommend consulting your healthcare practitioner if you have further questions about using GoodBelly in conjunction with other vitamins and minerals. Does coffee or tea affect the performance of GoodBelly? Happily, no. You may drink tea or coffee before, during or after consuming GoodBelly with no effect on the performance of the product. Does it matter what time of day I consume GoodBelly? GoodBelly can be consumed any time of day or night. Although we enjoy it best in the morning or afternoon. Should I take GoodBelly with other foods? GoodBelly can be consumed alone or with other foods. GoodBelly Multi contains added vitamins and minerals which may upset some folk’s tummies if taken on an empty stomach. We think it’s a great follow up to breakfast but it can be a wonderful complement to just about any meal. Can I consume GoodBelly while I’m using antibiotics? Absolutely! Using GoodBelly during, or after, a routine of antibiotics will help repopulate your gut with good flora. It can also help strengthen your immune system. However, you should wait two hours after you’ve taken your antibiotic before consuming GoodBelly. Taking antibiotics right after drinking GoodBelly will wipe out the beneficial cultures you just consumed. How long will it take for me to feel the beneficial effects of GoodBelly? Our clinical studies are based on daily consumption for 21 days. However, you will most likely feel an effect sooner, in perhaps 7 days. Company Who is NextFoods?
