It all started in India….

Our guiding light at NextFoods is this guy named Steve. Steve was in India (a place he’d been to many times before, and had even lived in briefly) and as he traveled through the country he kept noticing the roadside stands that sold cultured drinks—fermented milk. He knew cultured drinks were really good for our guts but he wondered if he could do it without the dairy (kind of a theme with Steve). His gut told him to pay attention…

Back in the States he had an epiphany while watching his wife sorting through a counter full of nutritional supplements. Why not get it all in one simple dose—probiotics, multi-vitamins, antioxidants? The idea for GoodBelly was born. But why not take it further Steve thought. Why not make products that have scientifically proven nutritional benefits and marry that with the validated benefits of organic foods? And that’s how NextFoods was born.

NextFoods is the new venture of Steve Demos, natural foods guru and the founder and former president of White Wave Inc., the largest producer of soy-based products in the United States. Joining Steve is a seasoned team of mavericks who worked with him to launch Silk Soymilk into the stratosphere.

NextFoods is founded on the principles of Right Livelihood, which is a Buddhist teaching about how to earn one’s daily bread by doing work that is “right”. It probably sounds a little strange but it simply means that we’re out to do good—we want to provide you the tools you need to feel better and enjoy vigorous good health. We’ve done the work for you, no trips to India necessary.
